Keep the piercing clean<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As your piercing heals, you need to make sure that you\u2019re keeping it clean. Essentially, your body is healing from an open wound. In order to keep your piercing dry, you must refrain from activities like swimming or hot-tubbing, and make sure to dab your piercing dry with a clean paper towel or cotton swab right after you step out of the shower. Furthermore, if you find yourself sweating throughout the day, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neilmedpac.com\/usa\/piercings-and-exercise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">after you exercise<\/a>, you should dab the piercing dry or conduct a quick cleaning.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\"><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Try not to touch your new jewelry<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As you adjust to your new jewelry, you might be tempted to play with it. Although the draw is understandable, you must fight against it; spinning or moving your jewelry can cause trauma to the pierced area.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the first days of healing, your piercing will likely excrete some clear fluids, leading to some crusting around the piercing site. Often, new piercees think that they are suffering from an infection when, in fact, the issue is much more minor.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>It may be a piercing infection if:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>You went to bed with a healthy piercing, and extreme, painful symptoms appeared overnight.<\/li>\r\n<li>You see yellow or green excretion coming from the piercing.
